Bio

Many would say the “perfect” job doesn’t exist, but Sara feels like she’s found it in her role as Internship Coordinator. As a college student, Sara was interested in so many things that she had a hard time narrowing down what to do or figuring out where she fit in — until Berea. It turns out that the perfect job for her was helping students navigate some of that same uncertainty through connecting them with resources and internships to explore – and help clarify – their career interests and goals. Sara meets with students about internship opportunities, manages the internship social media and web content, and serves as an office liaison for all things technology (including Handshake and BeyondBerea). She loves helping students be intentional about searching for their next opportunity and combining their multiple interests and skills to find the best possible internship for them.

Sara graduated with a B.A. in Public Relations and a minor in Spanish from Eastern Kentucky University (EKU) in 2006, and graduated with an M.A. in Student Personnel Services in Higher Education from EKU in 2013. Prior to joining Internships & Career Development in 2016, Sara started working at Berea in 2011 in Academic Services and Student Support Services programs, and before that, worked in the public relations and non-profit industries.

Sara is a Gallup-certified Strengths Coach, Global Career Development Facilitator, and holds a Green Belt Certification in LEAN Business Processes.

A native Berean, Sara is the daughter of two Berea College alums and has lived in Berea her entire life. An avid traveler, she loves returning to her favorite destination of central Mexico as often as she can. Sara lives in Berea with her husband and 3-year old, and in her rare free time, can be found practicing her photography skills, sketching out children’s illustrations, or channeling her foodie nature by testing out the latest kitchen gadgets.
