MoneyWi$e

Opportunity

Begin your financial journey with MoneyWi$e! Increase financial decision-making confidence in making the right financial decisions, based on your goals. Earn Berea's Financial Capability Credential by graduation. Wear that green graduation cord that signifies your accomplishment as you walk across that stage.

As college students, we’re expected to know how to budget, plan for retirement, invest, understand employer benefits, and so much more without ever really receiving guidance… But thanks to MoneyWi$e, the path to understanding these concepts is accessible and entertaining. You’ll graduate from Berea knowing how to set yourself up for financial success!

Graduating college and having to deal with finances, bills, retirement, insurance, and more has felt like a whole new world and is really difficult to navigate” is what I WOULD say if I hadn’t taken MoneyWi$e and been introduced to and prepared for all those topics in a super memorable and engaging way!

Getting Involved

All first-years will receive the MoneyWi$e program as part of their first-year summit. After your first year, MoneyWi$e will be an extracurricular that you can participate in. Are you ready to enhance your financial knowledge? Sign up for more information here.

What Are You Learning

There are six broad decision-making areas that frame your financial journey, but the specific workshops you explore within each category will deepen over time. We believe the progression will help you build confidence and capability over time.

Requirements for Credential

To acquire your Financial Capability Credential, simply follow the MoneyWi$e suggested curriculum for your classification at Berea. You will have a choice to complete workshops online, through Moodle, in any category, but a minimum of two in-person workshops must be completed each semester with a MoneyWi$e Peer Coach. Look for those opportunities across campus!

Mission

MoneyWi$e is a joint Initiative of the Labor Program Office, Academics, Financial Aid, and Career Development, designed to increase the financial wellness of the College’s community members. MoneyWi$e draws on several Great Commitments, but mainly the Seventh, about supportive and sustainable living.
