As Director of the Writing Studio, Lauren Hall leads a team of consultants in supporting writers across Berea. She also develops programming to expand and celebrate the skills and aspirations of our student writing community.

Previously, Lauren worked as the Director of Teaching and Learning Assistant Programs (TLAP) in Berea’s Center for Teaching and Learning, designing trainings for TAs across the disciplines. She also coordinated a cohort of peer leaders attached to our first-year writing courses.

Before that, she taught first-year and upper-level writing courses and tutored in the writing centers at the University of Pittsburgh and University of Louisville. At both universities, Lauren received accolades for her teaching, including being designated a Louisville “Faculty Favorite” by undergraduate students and winning Pitt’s Elizabeth Baranger Teaching Award.

Lauren loves works-in-progress and feels lucky to be surrounded by them all day, every day. Her primary areas of scholarly interest include undergraduate TA/tutor training, teaching personas, and inclusive writing pedagogies. In her free time, she writes and makes art.
