Berea Named One of the Best 387 Colleges in the Princeton Review’s 2022 Guide
Berea College has again been named one of the nation’s “best institutions for undergraduates to earn their college degree” in The Princeton Review’s book, The Best 387 Colleges: 2022 Edition.”
Berea is nationally recognized for its high-quality education and its distinctive labor program, which hires every admitted student to help operate the school. Berea is also known for its Tuition Promise Scholarship that covers the annual tuition cost for every student.
“It is always an honor for Berea College to be recognized among America’s top schools,” said Lyle Roelofs, president of Berea College. “The Berea experience is designed to be transformative, empowering students to transcend socioeconomic disadvantages and find success in any career. Being recognized as a top college allows us the opportunity to showcase our commitment to our students, their learning through our work program, and the high quality of the educational experience we offer.”
Only about 14% of America’s 2,800 four-year colleges are profiled in the guide book. The Princeton Review includes colleges in the book based on data it annually collects from administrators at hundreds of colleges about their institutions’ academic offerings. The Princeton Review also considers data from surveys of college students who rate and report on various aspects of their campus and community experiences for this project.
According to The Princeton Review’s website, the Best Colleges generally includes unique rankings lists highlighting specific ways in which schools stand out. Because of limited access to on-campus offerings during COVID, the publication instead included a special “Great Lists” feature recognizing schools frequently appearing on these lists in the past.
Berea College was recognized for appearing in the following lists:
- Best Colleges in the Southeast
- Best Value Colleges
- Best Green Colleges
- Tuition Free Schools
