COVID Information

COVID Information

During this endemic phase, we ask all students, faculty, and staff to follow CDC guidelines regarding COVID vaccinations and remain up to date on their boosters.

In the interest of the health and safety of our campus community, please continue to be mindful of symptoms of COVID-19. Taking precautions is a wise choice, particularly for those at increased risk. As always, if you are sick, please refrain from going to class or coming to work if you are an employee.

If you feel it is needed for your safety or others, please wear masks. Free masks are available at the welcome desk in Alumni and at Public Safety.

COVID Protocols

For Students

All students who think they have Covid should go to the White House Clinic (WHC) to get tested (Please wear masks until your COVID status is determined). You can reach the WHC at 859-985-1415.  If you test positive the WHC will inform the College of your results. If you choose to go to another provider or take a home test, please share a copy of your test results with Public Safety who will then work with Student Life to provide you with further guidance.

Please call Public Safety (859-985-3333) (ext. 3333) at any time if you have any questions or concerns.  You may also reach out to Student Life with your COVID status or concerns by contacting 859-985-3150 (ext. 3150) during regular work hours.

If you are COVID positive, a Student Life team member will call and inform you regarding the next steps.

Absence Report—An absence report will be submitted which will go to professors/instructors/labor supervisor informing them of a 5-day isolation period.

Housing—Students will be placed in isolation in Blue Ridge Residence Hall or allowed to go off campus for five days and be expected to wear a mask the entire time of isolation. If there is agreement with roommates, students may be able to stay in their own room during the isolation period but all individuals will be expected to wear a mask for the entire isolation period while in the room.

Dining—Students who stay on campus for isolation can order their meals online a day in advance (Student Life will deliver meals to students in isolation).

Wellness Check—Student Life will conduct daily wellness checks for all students in isolation on campus.

Recovery—If a student is symptom free after 5 days their isolation period will end. If the student is still symptomatic after 5 days, we will request they see their physician or go back to the WHC for further medical advice.

For Faculty

  • If you have a positive COVID diagnosis, please prioritize your own health and follow medical guidance. Currently, the CDC is now encouraging a five-day isolation. If you are well enough to continue teaching remotely, please communicate with your Department Chair and Division Chair about your plans. Of course, if you are not well enough to teach, let your Department Chair know so that we can support your students during your absence.
  • If you are exposed to someone diagnosed with COVID, please wear a mask while indoors and with other people. If you develop symptoms, stay home until you can get tested.
  • If a student in one of your classes has been diagnosed with COVID, they will be instructed to email you and discuss options for continuing in your course.  Additional flexibility with assignments and due dates can go a long way toward keeping a student on track to successfully return to class, whether they are significantly ill or just have a mild case.

For Labor Supervisors

  • If you have a positive COVID diagnosis, please prioritize your own health and follow medical guidance. Contact your supervisor to discuss options.
  • If you are exposed to someone diagnosed with COVID, please wear a mask while indoors and with other people. If you develop symptoms, stay home until you can get tested.
  • If one of your labor students has been diagnosed with COVID, they will be instructed to contact you and discuss options.

Thank you for your efforts to stay happy and healthy!
