Frank A. Cirioni, Ed.D., serves as the Vice President of Student Affairs at Berea College. Dr. Cirioni is a compassionate, highly relational, and social justice-minded educational leader with 19 years of progressive experience at two- and four-year colleges and universities. He is a scholar, practitioner, and trainer in restorative justice for campus misconduct.
Originally from White Plains, New York, Dr. Cirioni is the son and grandson of Italian immigrants. He is a proud first-generation college student and the first in his family to earn a master’s degree and a doctorate. Dr. Cirioni earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A.) in Visual Arts Education from New York Institute of Technology, a Master of Arts (M.A.) in College Student Personnel from Bowling Green State University, and a Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in Educational Leadership with a specialization in Community College/Higher Education from California State University, Long Beach. His dissertation, “Needing More to Restore: A Case Study on Utilizing a Restorative Justice Curriculum to Address Campus Sexual Misconduct Cases in U.S. Higher Education,” was published in 2021.
Dr. Cirioni serves as a restorative justice trainer for the University of San Diego’s Center for Restorative Justice. Previous clients include the American College Personnel Association, Cerritos College, the Colorado Community College System, HACC – Central Pennsylvania’s Community College, the University of Notre Dame, the University of Oregon College of Law, and the University of San Diego. He is also the founder of Restorative Justice Consulting LLC and an active member of the National Association of Community and Restorative Justice. Dr. Cirioni is an alumnus of the Social Justice Training Institute and holds several certifications from the Association of Title IX Administrators, the National Association for Behavioral Intervention and Threat Assessment, and the Association for Student Conduct Administration.
His previous roles were held at Germanna Community College, Golden West College, University of Puget Sound, EF Education First, Barnard College at Columbia University, The Ohio State University, Oberlin College, and Emory University.
In his free time, Dr. Cirioni enjoys spending time with his family and friends, and his two cats, Murphy and Eddie. Dr. Cirioni also enjoys live music, theater, collecting vinyl records, movies, comics, classic cars, and international travel.
