Fairchild

Residence Hall

Fairchild houses approximately 72 upper-division residents on two residential floors. Each floor has primarily double occupancy rooms and shared restrooms. The hall has building wide air-conditioning and internet services in each room. A full kitchen, private study room, and two laundry facilities can be found on each floor, with an extra kitchen on the main community floor.

Fairchild offers residents many community areas, such as a game room with a pool table on the main floor. Its historic design is seen in a beautiful grand staircase. Rooms on the rear of the building boast beautiful views of the mountains and Alumni Fields while rooms on the front of the building look over the main campus. The front porch features rocking chairs, a patio swing, and a large lawn.

Fairchild was built in 1872, making it the oldest building on campus as well as the first brick building in the area.  In addition to serving as a residence hall, it also houses Berea’s Counseling Services, VEPAC, Pinnacle’s Newspaper, HEART offices, our campus dietician, as well as other administrative offices. Fairchild is in a very central location, next door to the Alumni Building, which is home to many campus organizations and the Mountaineer Dining Hall. It also neighbors Woods-Penniman which contains Sandella's Flatbread Cafe and the Public Safety office.

The hall currently has traditional visitation and is anticipated to house a predominantly female community.
