Fairchild houses approximately 72 upper division residents on two residential floors. Each floor has primarily double occupancy rooms, and shared restrooms. The facility has elevator access available as needed to all floors, building wide air-conditioning, and internet services in each room. A full kitchen and two laundry facilities can be found each floor with an extra full kitchen on the main community floor.

Fairchild offers residents many community areas, historic design in a beautify grand staircase, a community game room with a pool table on the main floor. Rooms on the rear of the building boast beautiful views of the mountains and alumni fields and rooms on the front of the building have beautiful views of main campus. Each floor has a private study room, laundry facility and full kitchen. The front porch of this building features rocking chairs, a patio swing, a large lawn and views of main campus buildings.

Fairchild was built in 1872, making it the oldest building on campus as well as the first brick building in the area.  In addition to serving as a residence hall, it also houses Berea’s Counseling Services, VPAC, Pinnacle’s Newspaper, HEART offices, our campus dietician, as well as other administrative offices.  Fairchild is in a very central location. It is right next door to the Alumni Building, which houses many campus organizations and the Mountaineer Dining Hall. It is also next to Woods-Penniman (Woods-Penn) which houses Sandella's Flatbread Cafe, Public Safety office and the College Post Office (CPO).

The hall currently has traditional visitation and is anticipated to house a predominantly a female Community.
