How we can partner with you

Welcome, Alumni!

We love that you are interested in seeing what has changed since you graduated, but one thing that doesn’t change is the willingness of alumni to help current students as they prepare for life beyond Berea.

As a Berea alum, you now have the classes, student labor hours, and convo credit requirements behind you, but your ability to impact current students is just beginning! Through collaboration with the Office of Alumni Relations, the Office of Internships & Career Development is dedicated to creating and supporting a wide range of recruiting and networking opportunities that we believe cultivate impactful connections between Berea students and alums with an interest in recruiting, sharing career experience and expertise, and mentoring.

Alumni Resources

Job Search & Posting Resources

Alumni have access to job postings and other job search resources available through Handshake (such as Going Global!). If you’re also looking to post positions and recruit Berea students/grads on behalf of your employer, Handshake is the perfect place for that, too! For more information on how to sign up for Handshake (as an alum and/or as an employer), find the Handshake logo at the bottom of this page.

Resume and Cover Letter Writing Assistance

Alumni can utilize Optimal Resume (via Handshake) for resume writing/cover letter assistance, examples, and interview practice.

Virtual & On-Campus Recruiting Events

Alumni are welcome at most virtual recruiting events (and future on-campus events, when those are able to resume)! See our Events and Workshops page and register via Handshake, then Events. Any events open to Alumni will be displayed there.

We would welcome an introductory phone call or email with you and/or your colleagues to explore possibilities. You, your HR recruiters, or hiring officials may also post internships in Handshake and can find additional information for employers here.

Collaborate with Alumni Relations, Faculty, and ICD

Take part in collaborative events like Great Conversations, employer site visits, etc. These are excellent ways to connect with current students.

Participate in informational interviews

Students exploring career possibilities can benefit from informational interviews with you!

Offer shadowing opportunities

Offer shadowing opportunities to current students considering your career field.

Mentor a student

Serve informally as a mentor to a current student. Contact Alumni Relations for more information.

Handshake Logo

Handshake is Internship & Career Development’s career management platform.

Looking to recruit current Berea students for open internship or full-time positions with your current employer?

Handshake is used by institutions nationwide and by thousands of companies for recruiting. Find out more on our Employers page.

Searching for career opportunities yourself?

Handshake can connect you to job opportunities based on your interests, profile, and search activity. It works a little like Netflix or Amazon – the more you use it and let it know what you’re looking for (by filling out your profile, uploading your resume information, etc.), the more relevant and intuitive its suggestions will be, which means the more useful to you it will be! Through Handshake, you can sign up for events and workshops available to Alumni, search and apply for jobs, explore companies, manage your networking connections, and access valuable resources only available to current students and alumni provided by Internships & Career Development.

Recent Graduates

If you’re a recent graduate (Fall 2017 or later), you are likely already familiar with Handshake! Shortly following graduation, your Handshake account will automatically be transferred to an Alumni account using your Berea email address. You will then need to log in using that email address and your password (it will no longer be automatically updated using single sign-on to your myBerea network username and password)You can opt to change your email address and password once you log in.

Graduates before Fall 2017

If you’d like to sign up for a Student (Alumni) Handshake account and/or for an Employer Handshake account, you can register below, email Sara Cornett or Amelia Gardiner or call 859-985-3656.
