Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA)

Sick Leave
 
Use this for your own illness, injury, medical appointments, or when you need to care for a sick family member. It ensures you can focus on recovery without worrying about a missed paycheck. Absences of three (3) or more days may qualify for Family Medical Leave, and employees should refer to that policy if applicable.

Jury Duty
Berea College provides paid leave for employees summoned to serve on a jury or as a court witness, ensuring you can fulfill your civic duty without a loss in pay. Please provide your supervisor with a copy of your summons and your certification of service upon your return.

Election Day (Voting Leave)
To support your right to vote, the College offers up to two hours of paid leave for employees to visit the polls on Election Day. We ask that you coordinate your absence with your supervisor in advance to ensure departmental coverage while you 
cast your ballot.

Holiday Pay
Berea College observes several paid holidays throughout the year, granting employees time off with regular pay to rest and celebrate. If your specific role requires you to work on a designated holiday, speak with your supervisor to discuss eligibility for holiday pay or an alternative day off.
