Convocations

Berea College's largest community classroom

Convocations are Berea College’s annual Distinguished Lecture Series and Stephenson Concert Series held primarily in the historic Phelps Stokes Auditorium. Overseen by the Office of Convocations, the Executive Director of General Studies, and the Offices of the President and Provost, these events are designed to spark curiosity, reflection, and dialogue within our campus community and beyond. Convocations, or "convos" as they are typically called, also serve to supplement the General Studies Liberal Arts experience, reinforcing the breadth and depth of a Berea education.

Because schedules are subject to change or cancellation, students are encouraged to check this website regularly for updates.

A vital part of a Berea College education takes place beyond the classroom through lectures, symposia, concerts, and the performing arts. These events bring distinguished voices and performances that enrich the intellectual, aesthetic, and spiritual life of the College. Convos not only broaden perspectives but also create shared experiences among students, faculty, and staff—helping to cultivate a strong, unified academic community. Students are expected to attend a set amount of Convocations per term.
