Anna Brookshire joined the staff of Berea’s Alumni, Communications and Philanthropy Division in 2021, where she serves as the Philanthropy Project Coordinator. In her role, Anna coordinates special donor projects, communications, and events. She also organizes team education and engagement activities and provides critical support to the Alumni, Individual and Planned Philanthropy Team. Anna enjoys advancing Berea’s mission of providing a high-quality education to students of great promise and limited financial means.
A proud Berea College alumna, Anna graduated in 2007 with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication. As a student, she worked for the College’s Public Relations office, where she led historic campus tours, wrote news releases, and contributed to the Berea College Magazine. These experiences sparked her passion for storytelling and connecting people to Berea’s unique history and mission.
After graduation, Anna served as Administrative Assistant for Admissions and Campus Visits, welcoming prospective students and families to campus. She later built and operated her own home cleaning business, gaining valuable experience in entrepreneurship, client service, and operations management before returning to Berea College in her current capacity.
Originally from Virginia, Anna now lives near Berea with her children—Benjamin, Daniel, and Ella—and three beloved dogs. She and her family enjoy traveling, spending time outdoors, and exploring the natural beauty of the Appalachian region together.
