Logan L. Barsigian (they/them) is an Assistant Professor of Psychology at Berea College. Their research focuses on gender and sexuality in cultural and historical context, specifically centering transgender, non-binary, and queer women’s experiences. Most of their work considers generational dynamics and evolving social technologies, along with the continuous development of gender and sexual identity across the lifespan.
Dr. Barsigian adopts narrative approaches to understanding personal and social identities. Specifically, they are interested in how the interactions between individual, community, and cultural narratives shape identity and well-being on both the individual and community levels. They also have a broader interest in qualitative methods in psychology, particularly those that can illuminate lived experiences and those that center the whole
person.
In addition to their research experience, Dr. Barsigian has significant experience in counseling and advising work in higher education. They completed their master’s counseling practicum at a community college and worked for several years as an administrative and academic advisor. They enjoy working directly with students to help them achieve their academic and career goals.
