Originally from Puerto Rico, Professor José E. Mora Torres holds a PhD in Political Science from the University of Connecticut, a BS in Government from the U.S. Coast Guard Academy, and an MA in International Relations from the University of Oklahoma. Early on, he served in the US Coast Guard for eleven years. Professor Mora taught political science at the University of Connecticut-Stamford and graduate intelligence studies at the American Military University. Thereafter, he moved to Cambodia, where he served until 2024 as Professor and Chair of Global Affairs at the American University of Phnom Penh. He has taught multiple subjects, including intelligence operations, politics of Latin America and Southeast Asia, International Security, Parties and Elections, Indochina Wars, ASEAN, and other topics. His interests include intelligence operations, international security, religion and politics, Latin America, Southeast Asia, electoral systems, and foreign policy. He recently relocated to Berea after spending fourteen years overseas. He likes philately, poetry, scuba diving, and CrossFit.
