Southern States Communication Association Convention

Communication students who produce quality research papers in their senior capstone (COM 410) course have the opportunity to submit their research to the SSCA convention’s undergraduate honor’s division.

Berea College has had several students selected each year for the over 20 years.

The annual Theodore Clevenger Undergraduate Honors Conference (UHC) provides an opportunity for outstanding undergraduate students and faculty to discuss current projects and ideas about future communication research.

The goals of the UHC include supporting undergraduate scholarship, networking and exchanging ideas with other communication scholars, and exploring opportunities for graduate study.

Undergraduate students are welcome to submit papers for the UHC on any topic relevant to the study of human communication. The topics of papers presented also have been diverse, including rhetorical, social science, humanistic, critical, and performance-oriented approaches to the study of communication.

Past conference participants represent a wide range of colleges and universities that extends beyond the southern states region.
