Evening with an Activist Series

Wednesday, February 19 (5-6pm): Aziz Tokotobaev

Azis Toktobaev is a senior at Berea College majoring in Computer Science and Communication. He is an international human rights activist who has worked with organizations like Voices4, Human Rights Watch, United Nations, African Services Committee, Youth Initiatives Development Foundation, and many others. In 2018, he worked as a legal assistant/translator for 8 asylum cases in New York City and in 2019 he was one of the key figures of the anti-corruption protests in Kyrgyzstan, for which he was doxed and threatened by the local mafia. Please join us for an evening of conversation about Azis’s experiences with social justice activism. Coffee and tea will be served.

Tuesday, March 10 (5-6pm): Kat Beck

Kat Beck is a senior at Berea College majoring in Sociology and minoring Women’s and Gender Studies. She is from both New York City and Louisville, Kentucky. She is especially passionate about feminism and about sustainable agriculture. She is inspired by her friends, family, and regular people. In 2018, her work helped to fight the Kinder Morgan Pipeline. Please join us for an evening of conversation about Kat’s experiences with social justice activism. Coffee and tea will be served.
