Berea College officials conducted a dedication ceremony of the Margaret A. Cargill Natural Sciences and Health Building on Saturday, Oct. 20, 2018. The new 125,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art facility houses the College’s science disciplines, mathematics and nursing. Nearly 1,000 alumni, friends, faculty, staff and students raised more than $12 million to make the vision for this new facility a reality. Berea Exceeds $10 Million Campaign Goal for New Science/Health Building

Berea College is proud to announce that it has exceeded its $10 million campaign goal for the Margaret A. Cargill Natural Sciences and Health Building, raising over $12 million in less than two years.  Nearly 1,000 alumni, friends, faculty, staff and students joined together to make the vision a reality. The Margaret A. Cargill Natural Sciences and Health building will be a 125,000-square-foot facility that will house the College’s science disciplines, mathematics and nursing. As we get ready for the dedication on October 20, 2018, we want to share the stories of those who inspired us and whose gifts made the campaign possible. Berea College’s Bachelor of Science in Nursing program has been ranked #5 on the list of the Top 50 Best Residential BSN Programs by TopRNtoBSN.com. Competing with prestigious programs such as the Ohio State University, UCLA, Rutgers, and Purdue, Berea’s nursing program was ranked fifth with an average score of 96.5%. Berea College Selected for White Coat Ceremony

WhitecoatsBerea College has been selected as one of just 100 U. S. schools with nursing programs to participate in a new initiative, White Coat Ceremony, focused on promoting compassionate care among future health professionals. The White Coat Ceremony, funded through The Arnold P. Gold Foundation (APGF) and endorsed through the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN), was held Saturday, September 6, in the Woods-Penniman Commons on the Berea campus. Major Romeatrius Nicole Moss, DNP, RN a 2004 Nursing graduate from Berea College, and Executive Director and founder of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Black Nurse Association, spoke at the ceremony. First Lady Michelle Obama and Dr. Jill Biden have announced an initiative from nurses across the country who have committed to educating current and future nurses on recognizing and caring for veterans impacted by post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), traumatic brain injury, depression and other combat-related issues.
