RecycleMania is a national competition held in the spring of the academic year. Schools from across the nation compete with each other for the greatest increase in recycling per person during the 8 week competition. Recycling is measured two weeks prior to the competition to determine a baseline figure with is used for comparison at the end of the competition.
During Berea College’s RecycleMania competition, which is a part of the Eco-Challenge, the student laborers at the recycling center carefully weigh all the personal recycling they receive from all the residence halls on campus and make note of the amounts collected.
In 2014, Berea College ranked first regionally in terms of overall increase in recycling per person.
