Berea College Honor Society of Nursing
Informational Letter about Berea College Honor Society of Nursing & STTI
It Could Be You…
Berea College Nursing is forming an Honor Society of Nursing. The goal is to recognize and honor those nursing students who have shown superior academic progress and leadership. The long term goal of this organization is to join the prestigious Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing (STTI).
STTI is the only international nursing honor society worldwide and is a global community of nurse leaders with members belonging to more than 486 chapters and who live in over 90 countries. Through this network, members lead by using knowledge, scholarship, service and learning to improve the health of the world’s people. All STTI membership benefits will be available pending chapter approval. These include access to scholarships, research and educational materials, networking, as well as resume enhancement. STTI requires us to form and operate as a developing nursing honor society for a minimum of 1-2 years prior to submitting an application.
Candidates for membership must have finished at least ¼ of their nursing coursework, have at least a 3.0 GPA (on a 4.0 grading scale) and rank not lower than the highest 35% of their class in scholarship. All rules and regulations of the Berea College Honor Society of Nursing are in compliance with STTI rules and regulations.
The Berea College Nursing Program faculty advisors are in the process of recommending our first students for admission into the Berea College Honor Society of Nursing. These students will be inducted into the Berea College Honor Society of Nursing and will become members of STTI upon our chapter approval. Junior and senior nursing students who are selected will receive an invitation soon with details regarding our first induction ceremony. This is an exciting time for Berea College Nursing!
