Women’s Studies is an important field of inquiry that arose from the effort to understand gender roles throughout the world. Feminist scholarship and gender research have had a profound impact on the academy. There, scholars examine the cultural construction of gender, and explore the diverse experiences, contributions, and perspectives of women. Feminist teachers emphasize innovative methods to stimulate critical approaches to established knowledge. The Women’s Studies program offers an interdisciplinary minor and sponsor students as independent majors in Women’s Studies.
