Laura Menefee ’18 (Child and Family Studies) and Taylor Kelley ’21 (Psychology) served as interns this summer at Kentucky Foothills Therapeutic Horsemanship Center. Laura shares, “As interns, Taylor and I have learned and experienced a lot. We had the opportunity to become familiar with each individual rider and the challenges they face along with ways we can work on skills individually and as a group.  The movement and communication between the horse and the rider send neurological impulses that aide the rider in movement they would not be able to obtain otherwise which is why it is so effective. The therapy helps with developmental delays, speech development, motor skills, and in other capacities. There is a lot that goes into each day of preparing for riders and keeping the facility running.”
