Berea College Welcomes Public to Stephenson Memorial Concert

Kiran Ahluwalia — Blending Tradition Indian and Pakistani Music

Berea College welcomes two-time Juno award winning singer-composer Kiran Ahluwalia. This will be the first convocation in the Stephenson Memorial Concert series of the academic year, Thursday, September 17, 2015, at 8:00 p.m. in Phelps-Stokes Chapel. The program is free and open to the public.

Kiran Ahluwalia is an accomplished composer and musician, with six-albums currently under her belt. Her most recent in 2014 with Sanata: Stillness. The Los Angeles Times describes Kiran music “Her crystal clear voice arched superbly above rhythms that coursed through the audience…an evening of fascinating, newly revealed music.”

This event is the third in a year-long series of convocations. The convocation events, which are provided to both the campus and public communities, are a significant part of a student’s educational experience at Berea College. The convocation series offer lectures, symposia, concerts and the performing arts presented by outstanding personalities whose presentations enliven the intellectual, aesthetic and religious life and perform an important educational role. They also provide shared common intellectual experiences for students, faculty, and staff leading toward a unified academic community.
