What types of writing do you deal with?

Writing Resources works with nearly all forms of writing, from research papers in general studies courses to nursing papers. More information on which consultant and their special areas can be found in their bios on berea.mywconline.com.

What about creative writing? Can you help with that?

Absolutely. Our consultants have experience with creative writing.

Can I come in at any stage in the writing process?

Absolutely. Writing Resources helps with every part of the writing process, including understanding an assignment, brainstorming, organizing, planning, and revising.

Can I just walk in and meet with a consultant?

Walk-ins are welcome. However, please be aware that you may have to wait until a consultant is available to take your consultation.

How do I make an appointment?

Appointments can be made by visiting berea.mywconline.com. If you have not created an account with us, you will be prompted to do so before scheduling an appointment.

Can I cancel or reschedule an appointment?

Appointments can be canceled and/or rescheduled at any point in time up to an hour before the original consultation. This can be done by accessing berea.mywconline.com  or by calling our office at 859-985-3404.

How long does each consultation last?

A typical consultation will last approximately fifty minutes. However, if you need to leave earlier, or if you have covered everything you want to cover during the consultation, you are welcome to leave at any time.

What is a typical consultation like?

Well… Typically, one (or several) of our wonderful writing consultants will greet you when you come in the door. You are welcome to sit anywhere in the center you like. The consultant will ask what you would like to work on, preparing a list of the concerns you would like to address. Depending on what stage of the writing process you are in, you may be asked to try various techniques in writing or brainstorming. Towards the end of the consultation, your consultant should give a brief overview of the progress made during the consultation and warmly invite you to return.

Do I need to bring anything to my consultation?

You should bring a copy of the prompt for the assignment you’re working on, any sources you’ve used for research, your paper, and yourself.

Can I have the same consultant every time?

Absolutely. You are welcome to schedule an appointment with the same consultant (or, if you prefer, a different consultant) through berea.mywconline.com.

Can you help me with a resume?

Our writing consultants can help you in the beginning stages of your resume (specifically, drafting). Once you are past the drafting stage, we would highly suggest you make an appointment with the Office of Internships and Career Development(ICD) in order to further polish your resume.
