This is the update for Thursday, June 25, 2020.
Kentucky and Madison County update
Kentucky is reporting 280 new cases today and 8 additional deaths. The 7-day average of new cases continues to creep up. We have all seen the news reports of very dramatic outbreaks in various other parts of the country, which is very worrisome. Madison County is reporting 2 new cases today for an overall total of 112; 88 have recovered.
Student message to be sent tomorrow
Students, please look for an email message tomorrow from myself, Provost Dr. Linda Strong-Leek and Vice President for Student Life Dr. Channell Barbour advising you on the opportunity to return to campus and conditions that will apply.
We are also planning virtual “town forums” for returning students on July 1 and July 2 from 6:30-8pm for you to ask questions and get further information. Students will need to register for the forum; details on registering will be released soon.
Prayer (I am still thinking of the bear from yesterday)
When despair for the world grows in me
and I wake in the night at the least sound
in fear of what my life and my children’s lives may be,
I go and lie down where the wood drake
rests in his beauty on the water, and the great heron feeds.
I come into the peace of wild things
who do not tax their lives with forethought
of grief. I come into the presence of still water.
And I feel above me the day-blind stars
waiting with their light. For a time
I rest in the grace of the world, and am free.
