Daily COVID-19 Update: June 1, 2020

Dear Bereans,

This is the update for Monday, June 1, 2020.

Kentucky and Madison County updates

Madison County reports one new case over the weekend, for a total now of 54.  The one individual hospitalized has been released.  Kentucky reported 214 new cases today and 8 new deaths in Kentucky.  Appropriately, much attention is shifting at this point to the protests and demonstrations highlighting an even more pressing problem in our society.

Berea College statement

We have submitted our statement with about 150 signatories to local news outlets.  The Richmond Register will run it tomorrow and it will also appear in the Berea Citizen this week.  We have sent it to the Herald Leader and the Courier Journal as well.

An update from IS&S

IS&S, in partnership with an external company, is assessing all internal IT systems for security purposes.  The assessment is expected to take all week and shouldn’t cause any outages or delays in services.  In the event you experience any trouble accessing IT-related systems (ex. Email, MyBerea, VPN), please contact the IS&S Helpdesk.

Stay safe, stay healthy,

Lyle Roelofs, President
