Currently the Program Coordinator for the Race Relations Institute at Fisk University, Tutu was raised in apartheid South Africa, child of Archbishop Desmond Tutu and Nomalizo Leah Tutu. Combining Dr. King’s dream of the “Beloved Community” with the teachings of a South African proverb, Tutu encourages us to focus on our shared humanity and to concentrate on what we have the power to change in order to build a just world.
