3:00 PM, Phelps Stokes Chapel. Convocation: “Kentucky Musicians: Musical Traditions,” featuring Jamie and Jesse Wells, Carla Gover, George Gibson, the Mount Sinai Spirituals, Brett Ratliff, Ron Howard and Sarah Howard.
6:30-8:00 PM, Hutchins Library. Official Launch of the Alan Lomax Kentucky Recordings Digital Collection, featuring a presentation by Bruce Greene, The Ones That Got Away: Some East Kentucky Fiddlers That Alan Lomax Didn’t Get To Record.
Friday October 16
11:45 AM – 1:00 PM, Appalachian Center Gallery. Dinner on the Grounds, Symposium, Nathan Salsburg, I’ve Rambled This Country from Early to Late: Alan Lomax In Kentucky, 1937–1983.
1:30 – 2:30 PM, Stephenson Hall Room 226. Singing Workshop with Mount Sinai Spirituals.
3:00-4:00 PM, Appalachian Center Gallery. Kentucky Chautauqua with Anne Shelby’s Aunt Molly Jackson, Pistol Packing Woman.
7:00-9:00 PM, Phelps-Stokes Chapel. Evening Concert featuring the Mount Sinai Spirituals, Bruce Greene, the Berea College Folk Roots Ensemble, and George Gibson. Admission free with Berea College ID, $10 general admission, free admission for kids under age 10.
Saturday October 17
11:30 AM – 12:45 PM, Alumni Building, Carter G. Woodson Center Lobby. Dance Playshop – come dance with the Berea College Country Dancers to live music!
1:00 – 2:00 PM, Appalachian Center Gallery. Remembering Jean Ritchie: Songs and Stories from Festival Performers
2:00 – 3:00 PM, Stephenson Hall, Workshops.
Appalachian Center Gallery – Old Time Eastern Kentucky Banjo Style with George Gibson (demonstration, no instrument needed)
Stephenson 226 (2nd floor classroom) – Old Regular Baptist Singing with Ron Howard (sing or listen!)
Stephenson 122 (1st floor classroom) Songwriting with Carla Gover and Sarah Howard (informal conversation, no instruments needed)

9:30 – 11:00 PM, Woods Penn Commons. Square Dance, caller Peter Rogers, festival musician all-star band. All are welcome, no previous experience required!

9:00 – 10:15 AM, Union Church. Hymn Sing featuring Festival Performers led by Deborah Thompson.
