Move-In Day 2017

Each year, Move-In Day is special day for our alumni volunteers, who are stationed at each first-year residence hall to greet students and families. The day always begins in the Alumni Relations office located in the Alumni Building with a brief overview and a continental breakfast. Teams of volunteers and staff members are assigned to each hall where we have a welcome station with refreshments and campus information. As an alumni volunteer, you may be asked to guide a student or family member to a location on campus, help with directing traffic, and, of course, make our new Bereans and their families feel welcome. Our day generally ends around 1 p.m.

“We bring in some very high-achieving and highly motivated students, so we want to match that by giving them the kind of welcome and college experience they deserve.”

– Chris Lakes ’98,
Director of First-Year Initiatives

Each year, the Alumni Relations Team collaborates with campus partners to create nearly 500 welcome bags for each of our first-year students. Bags generally include school supplies, coupons, toiletries, and in some years, hand-made gifts from alumni. Students will find these bags in their rooms upon arrival.
