Berea College, the first interracial and coeducational college in the south and one of the most racially diverse private liberal arts colleges in the United States seeks to further its efforts of interracial education by hiring a Coordinator of Minority Recruitment and Services. Strategically placed in one of two primary markets for the College, Louisville KY or Cincinnati OH, this field based position will require frequent travel throughout the region, weekend and evening work, in addition to some campus based responsibilities at the main office located in Berea, KY.
Reporting to the Director of Admissions, the Coordinator of Minority Recruitment & Services coordinates the strategic planning and implementation of on- and off-campus minority student recruitment. The College’s commitment to interracial education is of high importance therefore the Coordinator will identify new markets and opportunities to further diversify the College’s incoming classes using data, trends and research. Furthermore, the Coordinator is tasked with developing relationships and serving as a liaison with organizations and constituents throughout the region who serve minority populations. This person serves as a liaison to the Carter G Woodson Center for Interracial Education, Black Cultural Center and other Centers to support the retention and success of minority students. Lastly, the Coordinator works closely with Admissions Counselors to help guide their recruitment efforts and serves on the Admissions Leadership Team.
In addition, the Coordinator must have aptitude with presentation and public speaking skills, basic technology capabilities, and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities and tasks while working independently from out of their home, without daily supervision.
