Earn Your Nursing Degree at Berea College

Berea College holds the distinction of establishing the first Nursing Program in the state of Kentucky. The mission of the Baccalaureate Nursing Program is to prepare students with great promise and limited economic resources from Appalachia and beyond for professional nursing in a changing practice environment.

The baccalaureate degree program in nursing at Berea College is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, 655 K Street NW, Suite 750, Washington, DC, 20001, 202- 887-6791. The baccalaureate degree program in nursing is also approved by the Kentucky Board of Nursing.

Here is what YOU can expect from studying Nursing at Berea College:

  • Explore Admission Criteria, Nature of Program, Length of Program
  • Nursing course fees, textbooks, uniforms and other expenses are approximately $300-$400 per semester.
  • Transferability of credits to other private and public institutions in Kentucky. Credits may transfer to other private/public institutions dependent on the school’s transfer policy.
  • Further information on admission criteria, program description, length, current cost/fees, and credit transferability may be found in the Nursing Student Handbook.

Berea College & University of Kentucky Commonwealth Scholar Program

If you are currently enrolled at the University of Kentucky and pursuing a BSN, you may qualify to be a Commonwealth Scholar. In order to qualify for this unique partnership, you must:

  • Take pre-requisite courses at the University of Kentucky.
  • Speak with a faculty member about becoming a Commonwealth Scholar at the end of your spring semester.
  • Contact Berea’s Nursing Department Chair, Dr. Monica Kennison, about your interest in transferring to Berea College.
  • Apply to Berea College by June 7 and be considered for admission.
  • If accepted, transfer to Berea for the upcoming fall.
