Transfer of Credit

Transfer of Credit

Berea College accepts transfer credit from regionally-accredited institutions for all courses with a grade of “C” or higher. Berea College also accepts:

  • AP credit (scores of 3 or above for students enrolled before Fall 2017 and scores of 4 or above for students enrolled beginning Fall 2017 and thereafter),
  • IB credit (higher level scores of 4 or above) and
  • CLEP credit.

Official transcripts are required from each issuing agency before the coursework will be evaluated. Transcripts submitted by students or stamped “issued to student” are not considered official and will not be accepted. Transcripts should be sent to:

Office of the Registrar
Berea College
CPO 2168
Berea, KY 40404

Electronic transcripts should be emailed to registrar@berea.edu.

All transfer work is evaluated by the Office of the Registrar. The office will consult with Academic Program Chairs to determine Berea College departmental course equivalencies in those instances for which curricular equivalencies are not clear. If not accepted to meet a specific Berea College requirement, such credit will be designated as elective credit. In addition, no credit will be given for courses not at the college level, including remedial courses, or for courses for which grades of P, S, U, or their equivalents, have been assigned.

Review Berea College’s official transfer credit policy.
