Berea Dining Services works with the College Gardens to compost 90% of pre- and post-consumer food residuals, which diverts an average 160 pounds of waste from the landfill daily (approximately 26 tons per year).  Dining Services also ensures that well-marked recycling and compost bins are available at all campus-wide events for which they provide catering.

The Ecovillage also collects and processes its own compost from resident apartments.
