The Berea College Child Development
Lab (CDL) fulfills a multifaceted mission.
First, the CDL is
designed to provide high quality childcare and inclusive early
education experience for the young children of college students,
staff, and faculty.
Second, the CDL serves as a learning laboratory for college students
involved in the programs within the Department of Child and Family
Studies as well as other programs of study on campus such as nursing,
psychology, and education studies.
Third, the CDL serves as a rich
resource for the scholarly and creative work of faculty and students
who have an interest in child development, family life, and teaching/
learning processes.
Fourth, the CDL serves the Appalachian Region
by demonstrating exemplary services and by being a resource to
other childcare and early education programs.
The Berea College Child Development Lab is administratively located
within the Department of Child and Family Studies and is committed
to upholding the Great Commitments of the college in each facet
