Timothy W. Jordan was named Director of Public Relations for Berea
College in 2000. A 1976 graduate of Berea College, Jordan’s
career spans more than two decades of diverse and progressively
responsible experience in public relations, management, communications
and fund development in healthcare and higher education. At Berea,
Jordan directs the departmental team comprised of five other professional
staff members and more than 20 student employees, overseeing work
in such areas as the College’s Web site content, printed
publications, media relations, videography, photography, guest
relations, event planning, and other communications-related projects.
Prior to the appointment at Berea College, Jordan was affiliated
with Jewish Hospital HealthCare Services (JHHS) in Louisville,
Kentucky as Director of Public Relations for Frazier Rehab Institute,
the physical rehabilitation division of JHHS. In addition to public
relations and marketing responsibilities for Frazier’s hospitals
in Kentucky and Indiana, Jordan also was responsible for directing
the public relations functions for other facilities in the Frazier
network, including outpatient rehabilitation, sports medicine,
and occupational health.
In addition to a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Berea College, Jordan’s
educational background includes an independent study in Renaissance
Italian architecture in Rome, Venice and Florence, Italy; Public
Relations, Community Development Series at the University of Louisville;
JHHS Corporate College, Jewish Hospital HealthCare Services’ management
development program; FOCUS Louisville, a civic development program;
as well as numerous national conferences in public relations, marketing,
development, communications, and management.
Throughout his career, Jordan has been involved, both as a member
and officer, with many professional organizations, including the
Public Relations Society of America (PRSA): Fund Raising Executives
of Metro Louisville (FREML); National Society of Fund Raising Executives
(NSFRE); Kentucky Society of Association Executives (KSAE), American
Society of Healthcare Marketing and Public Relations (now known
as the Society for Healthcare Strategy and Market Development);
and the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE).
