The Berea College Music Department’s annual Christmas Concert “A Celebration of Christmas Music” is scheduled for Sunday, Dec. 7, at 7:30 p.m. in Union Church.
All are invited to attend this popular event for an evening of beautiful music and to join in the singing of traditional carols accompanied by College Organist John Courter. Music of the season will be performed by the college’s Black Music Ensemble, Bluegrass Music Ensemble, Concert Choir, Chamber Singers, Chamber Winds, College Community Choir, Jazz Ensemble, Wind Ensemble, and Women’s Chorus. As people arrive, traditional carol arrangements will be played by the organist and other instrumentalists, beginning thirty minutes before the concert.
Plan to attend this joyful two-hour candlelit Christmas celebration and the holiday reception with refreshments in the Fellowship Hall downstairs immediately afterward.
This year, the concert is being held in conjunction with Berea’s Alternative Giving Christmas Market. Sponsored by the College’s Campus Christian Center, the market will be held in the Fellowship Hall beginning at 6 p.m. and again after the concert during the reception. You are invited to join in one of the best ways to celebrate the season, by giving a gift that fits loved ones’ hopes and dreams for a better world and spreads the original meaning and spirit of Christmas!
Information on more than 30 local, state, national and international non-profit organizations will be available. Concertgoers are encouraged to come early to shop for an gifts such as a donation toward health care, a gift of food or housing for those in need, or protection of our natural resources. Each gift will include a certificate to send to the recipient and all purchases are tax-deductible.
