The Berea College Men’s Cross Country team will be competing at the National meet this Saturday taking place in Kenosha, Wis., along with women’s team member senior Britin Ellard, who earned an individual spot.
   
The Berea men qualified for Nationals after winning the Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (KIAC) meet Nov. 8, in Berea.  The men’s team ran a dominant race and beat rival Brescia College by 20 points.  The Berea team scored 27 points and went 1,4,5,8,9,11,14. 

Individually, three Berea runners were named All-Conference.  Junior Antonio Marchi (27:14) who also earned Runner of the Year honors, junior Jarrod Wilder (27:37), from Berea, and Junior Trey Baker (27:46).  The rest of the team was led by freshman Jonathan Castor who finished eighth, missing all-conference honors by one place, running 28:29. He was quickly followed by freshman Lucas Warner (28:37), freshman Jarrett Blankenship (29:40) of Bowling Green, and freshman William Harmanson (30:11), of Radcliffe. 

The Berea Women’s team ended up finishing 4th which did not qualify them for Nationals.  Ellard ran a time of 20:54 finishing 3rd overall.

Berea Coach Mike Johnson also earned KIAC Men’s Coach of the Year Honors for the 35th time.At the National Meet this Saturday in Kenosha, the Women’s 5k race will start at 10:30am CST. The Men’s 8k race will start at 11:45am CST.
