Berea’s Fiesta de Mayo celebration “Una Noche
Caliente con Grupo Fuego,” is scheduled May 6, from 9:30
p.m. – 1 a.m. on Main Street in the College Square area
of campus. This family event will feature the music of Salsa
and Merengue band “Grupo Fuego,” moonwalks for
the children, a dance competition, along with food and drinks.
The annual community event, sponsored by the Hispanic Student
Association at Berea College, is free of charge and open to
the public.
“Grupo Fuego” (which means The Fire Group) was
formed in the fall of 1999 and is from Cleveland, Ohio. They
are very lucky to have a group of musicians that has remained
constant over the years and who have given the band its powerful
sound. They have come a long way from their humble roots and
have grown in popularity along just as Latin Music has grown
more popular. Their fan base covers all ages and ethnic groups
due to the energy of its performances. The band has performed
at Latino and multi-cultural festivals and at other events
throughout the mid-west, Pennsylvania and New York.
