The
Berea College Department of Technology’s Westervelt Woodworking
Program begins February 7, 2006. There will be three workshops,
each meeting on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6:30 to 8:30
p.m. in the Danforth Technology Building. There is a $10.00 non-refundable
registration fee due at time of registration. Participants will
also pay for materials used to complete their projects. The instructor
for each workshop will be Dr. Gary Mahoney.

WORKSHOP 1. Shaker
Tables (Limit 20 participants)
Each student will make a shaker
table. The design will be decided on the first night of class.

WORKSHOP 2. Wood Turning (Limit
20 participants)
This workshop will focus on basic spindle and
face plate wood turning techniques. Students will produce small
projects such
as rolling pins, candle stick holders, bowls etc.

WORKSHOP 3. Small Gifts (Limit
20 participants)
This workshop will focus on small wooden gift
items. Participants will select specific items on the first
night of class. Items
might include boxes, cutting boards, games etc.
