The Hot Club of San Francisco will give an afternoon “informance” on
the history of gypsy jazz and perform a full evening concert at
Berea College Nov. 17. The informance is scheduled for 3 p.m. and
the concert at 8 p.m., both in Phelps Stokes Chapel.
Both events are free and open to the public.
With an all-string instrumentation of violin, bass, and guitar,
Hot Club of San Francisco keeps alive the historic gypsy jazz music
of Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grapelli’s Hot Club de France
of the 1930s. In addition to performing in the United States, Mexico
and Europe, the ensemble also records, this year releasing their
ninth album “Postcards from Gyspyland.”
