Dr. Jayne Seminare Docherty, an expert on conflict resolution,
will speak on “Peace Building” at Berea College on
Oct. 20 at 3 p.m. in Phelps Stokes Chapel.
The Annual Robbins Peace and Brotherhood Lecture is sponsored
by the Campus Christian Center and is free and open to the public.
Docherty, associate professor of conflict studies at Eastern Mennonite
University, works with communities, applying principles of peace
building to deep-rooted conflicts, and assists universities in
developing curricula in peace studies and conflict studies.
She began teaching in the Conflict Transformation Program at Eastern
Mennonite in 2001, after teaching conflict resolution at Columbia
(S.C.) College and George Mason University.
Docherty holds her B.A. from Brown University and Ph. D. in Conflict
Analysis and Resolution from George Mason University. She is the
author of “Learning Lessons from Waco,” and “The
Little Book of Strategic Negotiation.”
