Dr. Fred B. Craddock, Bandy Distinguished Professor of Preaching
and New Testament, Emeritus at Emory University, will speak at
Berea
College on Thursday, Sept. 29 at 3 p.m. in Phelps Stokes Chapel.
His talk is titled “What do you mean I passed?”
The event, co-sponsored by the Campus Christian Center and the Ruth
Pister-Hampel Memorial Fund, is part of “Accent on Christian
Faith” week activities on the theme “The Gospels in a
New Light.”
Craddock also will lead three noon worship services in Danforth
Chapel Tuesday- Thursday, Sept. 27-29. Tuesday’s subject
will be “Were you talking to me?” On Wednesday the
talk will be “Would you repeat the question?” and on
Thursday, the subject will be “Will this be on the test?”
The former pastor of Cherry Log Christian Church in Cherry Log,
Ga., Craddock was named one the twelve best preachers by Newsweek
Magazine. Known for his sermons which are interwoven with storytelling,
he is much sought after as a lecturer at leading universities and
seminaries in the United States. He also has traveled the world
and spoken in many different countries.
In 2001, the Cherry Log Church created the Craddock Center, named
for Fred Craddock and his wife, Nellie, a non-profit organization
committed to providing programs to enrich individual lives and
communities in southern Appalachia.
