Workshop I: Courting Dulcimer or Hourglass Dulcimer
For our first workshop, we will be making a courting dulcimer. The
courting dulcimer has two finger boards and would allow a courting
couple to play together without direct supervision, as long as
the chaperon in an adjacent room can hear two people playing. For
those of you who would prefer, you may make an hourglass shaped
dulcimer. Cost for the courting dulcimer is $90 plus class fee
of $10.00. The hourglass dulcimer is $50 plus class fee of $10.00.
Please notify Sandy which one you wish to make. Meeting dates:
September 6, 8, 13, 15, 20, 22, 27, and 29.
Workshop II: Mandolin
In our second workshop we will be making a replica of a 1930’s
Del Oro mandolin. The body style is a simplified variation of the
popular F-style mandolin favored by Blue grass musicians. The cost
for making this instrument is $85 plus $10.00 class registration
fee. Meeting dates: October 4, 6, 13, 18, 20, 25, 27, and
November 1.
Workshop III
Banjo – By popular request, we will again be making a five
string folk banjo. This instrument will have an adjustable neck,
Remo head, and geared tuners. The cost for this instrument will be
$115 plus $10.00 registration fee. Meeting dates: November 8, 10,
15, 17, 29, December 1, 5, and 7.
