Berea College is observing its 150th anniversary this year. College
President Larry Shinn will look at Berea’s beginnings and the lessons
from that past of value today as guest speaker for the Berea Forum’s
first program of the new year on Tuesday, Sept. 13.
Shinn’s talk “Imagine a Place…” is scheduled
from 4-5 p.m. in Baird Lounge of the Berea College Alumni Building.
Berea Forum programs are free and open to the public. Meeting times
are scheduled the second Tuesday of every month (unless otherwise noted),
from 4-5 p.m., and are planned by a committee of retired persons with
staff assistance provided by Berea College’s Office of Special
Programs. Parking is available behind the Alumni Building and also behind
Boone Tavern.
Other programs scheduled this fall are: Oct. 11- Kent Clark, Madison
County Judge Executive, “Past, Present and Future of Madison County;” Nov.
8 – Harry Robie, of Robie and Robie Fine Books, “Being Mom
and Pop in the Age of Wal-Mart;” and Dec. 13 – Stephanie
Woodie, assistant professor of physical education and health, “Holiday
in Motion.”
