Dr.
Janice Blythe, Berea College professor of Child and Family Studies
at Berea College, is the College's new Associate Provost for Advising
and Academic Success.
Blythe, winner of the 2004 Paul C. Hager Award for Excellence in Advising,
assumed her new role this spring. She succeeds Dr. Donald Hudson, who
will return to teaching in the Technology and Industrial Arts Department
following a year-long sabbatical.
In 1986, Blythe joined Berea as associate professor and chair of the
Child and Family Studies Department, continuing as chair until 1998.
Also since 1986, Blythe has been Didactic Program in Dietetics (DPD)
director for Nutrition and Dietetics. DPD is an undergraduate accreditation
program of the American Dietetic Association.
Before coming to Berea, Blythe’s professional experience included
positions such as Associate Professor of Nutrition and Dietetics at
Eastern Kentucky University, Endocrinology Nutritionist at Lexington
Clinic, and Clinical Dietitian at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington.
A native of Lancaster, Blythe received her B.S. in Dietetics from
Eastern
Kentucky University with a Minor in Business Administration. She later
received her Master of Science degree in Clinical Nutrition, and her
Ph. D. in Animal Science, with emphasis in nutrition from the University
of Kentucky. Blythe is a Licensed and a Registered Dietitian in the
state of Kentucky, and is also certified in Family and Consumer Sciences.
