Jeffrey S. Amburgey has been appointed Vice President for Finance at
Berea College. Acting Vice President for Finance since 2004, Amburgey’s
permanent appointment to the position was approved at the recent College
Board of Trustees Meeting.
In this institutional leadership role, Amburgey provides chief oversight
for the annual budgetary process, oversees all major financial operations
of the College, provides primary support for the Trustees’ Finance,
Audit and Investment Committees, leadership for the Office of Financial
Affairs, and provides strategic planning and reporting functions for
all financial areas of the College. He also is responsible for all
corporate financial records and all real and personal College property.
The Mt. Sterling native joined Berea College in 1994 as Associate
Controller, later serving as Controller from 1996-2000. In 2000, he
was named Assistant Vice President for Finance and Controller, the
position he held before being named acting vice president for Finance.
Before coming to Berea, Amburgey worked for Island Creek Corporation
in Lexington for ten years, where he held positions as an accountant
and supervisor of financial reporting.
In addition to a B.B.A. in accounting from Eastern Kentucky University,
Amburgey holds an M.S. degree in accounting from the University of
Kentucky.
Amburgey and his wife, Janie, a teacher aide at Kit Carson Elementary
School in Richmond, have one daughter, Meagan, a seventh grader at
Clark Moores Middle School. The family resides in Richmond.
