| Berea, Ky. (8/15/02) Dr. Lee Roecker, professor of chemistry
at Berea College, will be one of eight faculty members from
the region to be honored at the Symposium for Excellence in
Undergraduate Chemical Research September 28th at Indiana University.
Roecker is being honored for his research contributions as
well as his work as a mentor encouraging students to pursue
careers in science. He has been a member of Berea's faculty
since 1988 and currently holds the position of Chemistry chair.
Roecker received his Bachelor's degree in 1981 from the University
of Cincinnati, his Master's degree in 1982, and his Ph.D. from
the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill in 1985.
This annual event will feature Dr. Gerald R. Becker, Senior
Research Scientist at Eli Lilly and Company, as the keynote
speaker.
