| The 2001 Berea College Homecoming court candidates have been
announced. Two seniors, six juniors, seven sophomores, and
one freshman are finalists for Homecoming queen and king.
The coronation, a highlight of the Nov. 16-18 weekend, will
take place during half time of the Saturday night basketball
game between Berea and Spalding University in Seabury Center.
The game begins at 7:30.
Candidates for queen are Meica Benjamin, a sophomore psychology
major from Ellensburg, Wash.; Arenda Culver, a sophomore
industrial technology management and business administration
major from Dixon, Ky.; Kekeli Ekoue, a junior chemistry major
from Ghana, West Africa; Freda Johnson, junior business administration
major from Nashville; Adrienne Keller, a sophomore elementary
education major from Henagar, Ala.; Gabrielle McWhorter,
junior biology and pre-medicine major from Birmingham, Ala.;
Felecia Outsey, a physical education major from Birmingham
Ala., and Amanda Rockett, a sophomore secondary English education
major from Cincinnati, Ohio.
Competing for the title of Homecoming king are Rashaad Abdur-Rahman,
a junior psychology major from Houston, Texas; Kirk Amick,
a junior business major from Harper, Ore; John Campbell, a
senior industrial arts major, Concord, KY; Nathaniel Clements,
a sophomore business major from Sylvania, Ala.; Joel Johnson,
sophomore business major from Frost, W.Va.; Ricardo McCants,
a junior technology education major from Birmingham, Ala.;
Joshua McMinn, a sophomore technology major from Asheville
N.C., and Yusuf Muhammad a freshman business major from Atlanta.
The new queen and king will be crowned by Donna Millard, Berea
College’s 2000 Homecoming Queen and 2000 Homecoming King
Doug Clark.
Assisting in the ceremony will be crown bearer Mary Jefferson,
daughter of Craig Jefferson, ‘80, and Teresa Jefferson, ’87,
and scepter bearer Render Woods II, the son of Render Antonio
Woods, ‘91 and Sheila Woods, ‘93.
