Eleven Berea College faculty and staff members who retired during
the 2000-2001 year were honored at a recent campus-wide reception
attended by colleagues and family in the Woods-Penniman Building.
Patty Boyce, mathematics department instructor for 20 years;
Dr. Maria
Lichtmann, department of philosophy and religion, 9 years; Dr.
Robert Schneider, distinguished professor of general studies
and professor of foreign languages, 34 years; and Dr. Gerald
Roberts, head of Hutchins Library Special Collections and a library
staff member for 26 years, retired from Berea's faculty. Retiring
Health Service personnel included physician and director Dr.
Richard Hobe, 8 years, and R.N. Nancy Tipton, a staff member
for 22 years. Sandra Redmon retired after ten years as a teacher
with the Child Develop Laboratories. Clyde Horn retired after
34 years with the College Laundry, and retiring from the facilities
management department were electrician Teddy Burke, an employee
of 25 years, custodian James Coffey, 23 years, and plumber Harold
Himes, 32 years.
