The concerts are being presented by the College's Modern
Dance Troupe and offer works by student and faculty choreographers.
Faculty choreographers Stephanie Browner, Stephanie Clark,
Roy Scudder-Davis, Susan Spalding and Stephanie Woodie and
students LaShaundra Thedford, Jacqueline Price, Oana Sirbiou,
Katie Racz, Syreeta Pratt, Natasha Hood and Sara Douthitt,
have created an evening's program in which contrasts abound.
In Browner's "Ardent Quartz," performed to music
by Laurie Anderson, waves of dancers pass across the stage,
leaving one and then another behind, then lifting and supporting
one another. A dance by Scudder-Davis is based in cool, elegant
nightlife, while Woodie's dancers form and re-form groups and
hurdle energetically through space.
Two of the student dances were choreographed during the College's
recent short-term class "Making Dances."
Admission is free for Berea College students and $5 for non-students.
