Carter G. Woodson Memorial Lecture, co-sponsored byBlack History Month Task Force
The founder and former chairman (1966-74) of the Black Panther Party and one of the "Chicago Eight" prosecuted for protest activities at the 1968 Democratic Convention, Seale has remained active in the struggle against racism, and for civil-human rights through more mainstream political activity and grassroots activism. He is currently an associate in the department of African and African American Studies at Temple University, and is the creator-director of Bobby Seale's R.E.A.C.H., Inc., an organization promoting "cooperational humanism" around the world.
