| The Berea College men's cross-country team, won the combined
KIAC and NAIA regional championship meet this past Saturday
with a near perfect score of 17, qualifying for the NAIA
National meet November 18 at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside
in Kenosha.
At Saturday's meet, held at Midway College, five members of
the men's team finished in the top four places and in seventh
place in the 8,000 meter race, and five were named All-Conference
Student/Athletes. Matt Byerley, a sophomore from Elizabethtown,
finished in first place with a time of 26:55; Lucian Musgrove,
a sophomore from Pine Knot finished second; sophomore Levi
Foust, Somerset, Pa., placed third; sophomore Jamie Jimison
of Sardinia, Ohio finished fourth and junior Roy Jones of Adolphus
was seventh.
These five runners, plus Blake Main, a sophomore from Owensboro
and freshman Justin Bessinger of Lexington, will compete for
Berea at the nationals.
In the women's competition, Berea placed third in the Conference
and fourth in the Region.
Six Berea runners -- two women and four men -- were named
Academic All-Conference Student/Athletes: Alice Driver, a sophomore
from Owensboro; sophomore Bethany Herman, Ironton, Ohio; Tibor
Krska from the Slovac Republic; Yuri Kondratiev; Main, and
Jimison.
